Note returns are generally handled case by case, so terms are usually variable depending on the situation and can, in at least some cases, be more generous than the below.
Walker Bookstore guarantees that the products listed on your quote will be delivered exactly as described. The customer is responsible for reviewing the information on the quote and confirming the listed products are the ones intended to be ordered prior to authorizing the order. Upon delivery, the customer agrees to immediately inspect the products and not distribute or alter them in any way unless they are verified to be the correct products. “Altering” includes, but is not limited to, stamping books, affixing school stickers to books, writing in or on books in any way, and opening sealed software or digital access codes.
The customer has 30 days from the day the products were received to report any issues to Walker Bookstore and request a return authorization. Returns are allowed case by case with prior authorization only. When Walker Bookstore authorizes a return, the products must be received within 30 days of the authorization date.
In the event that Walker Bookstore delivers a product with an ISBN that does not match what was quoted or agreed to, Walker Bookstore will take the following actions in order:
- If inventory is available, Walker Bookstore will immediately ship replacements, and if Walker Bookstore requests the incorrectly delivered items to be returned, we will provide shipping labels to the customer and pay the shipping for the return.
- If no replacements can be provided and the invoice has not yet been paid, Walker Bookstore agrees to credit the invoice for the value of the products that were not delivered correctly. If the invoice has been paid, Walker Bookstore agrees to refund the customer for the value of the products that were not delivered or provide credit toward a future purchase if the customer – whichever the customer prefers. A return may be required for credit, in which case prepaid labels will be provided to the customer.
In the event that the customer alleges a product was delivered in a lesser condition than what was quoted, the customer agrees to:
- Take pictures of the relevant products and email them to the sales representative listed on the quote as soon as possible.
- Make all reasonable efforts to save and take pictures of the packaging the products arrived in so that the possibility of transit damage can be investigated.
If the pictures clearly show the wear or damage of a condition category below what was listed on the quote, Walker Bookstore will offer the following remedies:
- An offer of credit or partial refund in the amount of Walker Bookstore’s discretion in exchange for the customer agreeing to keep the books. The customer may refuse this offer.
- If inventory is available, the immediate shipment of replacements at no additional cost to the customer. Walker Bookstore reserves the right to request the below-condition book(s) be returned and if so, will provide pre-paid shipping labels so that no cost is incurred by the customer.
- Only if remedies a or b cannot be utilized, Walker Bookstore will issue a credit or refund for the full cost of the lesser condition products in exchange for their return. Walker Bookstore will provide pre-paid shipping labels to facilitate the return.
“Buyer’s Remorse” or “Buyer Error”
Buyer’s Remorse or Buyer Error is defined as requesting the return of products that arrived exactly as described on the quote. Typical reasoning for buyer’s remorse is often communicated as, but not limited to:
- After the order was authorized, additional supplies were found in storage.
- Enrollment was overestimated and too many books were ordered.
- The incorrect ISBN was requested by the customer causing Walker Bookstore to deliver products not actually needed.
- Despite a seemingly valid purchase order being submitted to Walker Bookstore by the customer, the customer alleges the purchase order was approved in a fraudulent manner and is not valid.
Such returns are considered case by case and need to be requested within 30 days of receipt of the items. The items must be received within 30 days of return authorization to be accepted. When Walker Bookstore authorizes such a return, the customer agrees to pay the cost of return shipping and a restocking fee of up to 20% of the value of the products. The terms of the return will be explicitly given up front upon request of a return for the customer’s consideration. Walker Bookstore will make reasonable attempts to charge a lower restocking fee, but the nature of fulfilling orders is complex, and delivered products may have other costs associated with them that we need to assume.
The returned products must be received by Walker Bookstore in the exact conditions in which they were originally provided to the customer and shipped within 30 days of receipt of the product, unless a longer timeframe is authorized. If products are returned in lesser condition than that in which they were provided to the customer, the customer agrees that Walker Bookstore will lower the value of the credit or refund accordingly and solely at the discretion of Walker Bookstore.
Multiple Price Points Policy
The following policy applies to all returns:
Walker Bookstore may quote identical products at different price points on a single quote. This happens when products are being sourced from different partner vendors who have set different prices for the same product. In the event of a return of a product or products that were quoted at multiple price points, Walker Bookstore will credit or refund the lowest-priced products first. Using the example below of a quote for 30 identical Algebra books:
Qty 10 Algebra ISBN 0123456789 Used/Very Good $19.95 ea
Qty 10 Algebra ISBN 0123456789 Used/Very Good $29.95 ea
Qty 10 Algebra ISBN 0123456789 Used/Very Good $39.95 ea
If the customer requests the return of 15 Algebra books: The base value of the return will be based off the return of 10 copies priced at $19.95, and 5 copies priced at $29.95. Restock fees would derive from this base value and the cost of return shipping would also be factored into credit / refund.
